Dr. Youmans is a Knoxville native and 2009 graduate of
University of Tennessee’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Public Health from UT in 2009, giving her special insight the veterinary public health field, with regard to infectious/zoonotic disease, epidemiology, and public health. Dr. Youmans enjoys practicing internal medicine, managing chronic disease, and teaching 4th year veterinary students. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, traveling, horseback riding, and spending time with friends and family. A 2002 graduate of UT’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Skinner is a decorated military veteran, a retired Navy Lt. Commander who graduated #1 in his class at Naval Retail School. He formerly worked at Central Veterinary Hospital and Beaverbrook Animal Hospital. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Lisa, and their two dogs Loki and Merlin. We are excited to announce soon-to-be Dr. Mackenzie Treece will be joining Knoxville Animal Clinic as a full-time veterinary associate starting June 1st, 2021!! She graduates from Lincoln Memorial University College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2021. Her veterinary practice interests include small animal internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, emergency medicine, and practice management. She will be accepting new clients and is excited to start seeing appointments June 1st, 2021.
In her spare time, you will find her with her one-year-old daughter, Ivy, and tending to her small pack of dogs. She is a fan of the giant breeds and just recently added a new Great Dane puppy to her pack. She also has a dachshund, Droopy, a Sharpei, Dozer, and mini pot-bellied pig named Waffles (he does tricks for Cheerios)! She enjoys home remodeling projects, car restoration, and spending pretty days on the lake. In Practice since: June 2021.
Jeff came to us from the human health field in 2011, and is now using his previous clinical and laboratory experience with his 4-legged patients. Jeff also doubles as our in-house computer tech support expert, and spearheads all of our computer system upgrades and maintenance. In his off time, he enjoys hanging out with friends and his Pug, Nacho.
Sara recently retired from the Knoxville Animal Clinic team in July 2020 after 16 years of loyal service at the front desk. Sara enjoyed interacting and getting to know our clients over the years and she will miss seeing our clients and staff. Sara is originally from New York and has lived in Tennessee since 2004. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her two children and six grandchildren in Arizona. She will be enjoying spending more time in her garden, reading, relaxing, spending time with her family, and her dachshund mix, Otto, during her retirement.
Brooke is originally from Huntsville, AL, but is now a proud Knoxvillian. She studied photography in Alabama, and she earned her BA (Anthropology) from the University of Tennessee in December of 2018. She plans to further her education by obtaining a Master's in Public Health and is currently obtaining her Certificate in Public Health through ETSU.She has been in the vet field since 2008 and enjoys caring for animals, big and small. She shares her home with her pit bull/American bulldog mix Canvas, pit bull Ardi, and cat, Moss.
Haley was born and raised in Knoxville and has always had a lifelong love of animals. She has been with KAC since 2015. She graduated from The University of Tennessee with a bachelors in Animal Science. She is now pursuing a masters degree in teaching. Haley enjoys being outdoors, spending time with friends, family, her fiancé, and her fur babies.
John grew up in Nashville before to Knoxville and is now attending the University of Tennessee studying Animal Science. He enjoys being a part of the Knoxville Animal Clinic team to work and learning alongside his co-workers and our three doctors. He enjoys cheering on the Vols, exercising, and spending time with friends and family.
Whitney is a Knoxville native who has been working in the veterinary field for over a decade. She's always had a strong bond with animals and has been an avid equestrian for most of her life. She pioneered the Ambulatory Large Animal Veterinary Technician Internship program at UTCVM. She enjoys gardening, hiking, skateboarding, art and alchemy. She has a son, Silas, two dog children named Dexter and McKinley, along with her horse, Blue.
Savannah grew up in Cookeville, TN where she stayed until she got her associates and bachelor’s degree in biology with a focus in marine biology and zoology. After graduating in May 2017, she moved to Chattanooga where she worked at the Tennessee Aquarium and Chattanooga Zoo. Savannah recently obtained her Master's Degree in Education and also currently works for the Knox County Schools teaching elementary students. When she’s not working, you can almost always find her exploring new places or at home with her cat, Shado.
Gillian grew up in Nashville and is currently studying Wildlife Health at the University of Tennessee. She plans to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine and loves helping animals of all breeds and species. She loves hiking, kayaking, and hanging out with her cat Finn.
Taylor is a Knoxville native who graduated from the University of Kentucky, and has since lived in Chattanooga, Memphis, and is now happily back in Knoxville. Taylor loves the opportunity to work with animals, and spends her free time cheering on the volunteers, and doing anything she can find outdoors with her husband, family, and two black labs.
My name is Adam Swayze and I am a currently enrolled at UTCVM in the Class of 2024. I am originally from Franklin, TN but moved to Knoxville with my wife in August. I graduated from Tennessee Tech University in December 2019 where I also played collegiate football. I love spending time with my family, being outdoors, and doing anything active. I can’t wait to learn from the great doctors at KAC while pursuing my DVM.
Doug moved to Knoxville from his hometown Alexandria,LA in 2017 to attend the University of Tennessee. He has been working in the veterinary field since spring 2017 where he began his work in shelters, then switched over to veterinary clinics. Doug is now currently studying to become a certified veterinary technician in order to continue the work he loves, caring for animals. Doug enjoys camping, hiking, biking, and spending time with his family of 6 dogs Duke, Vigor, Moose, Duchess, Roux, and Bluebell.
